Who is Mona?

About Mona
Mona is a multidisciplinary artist based out of Los Angeles, CA.
Her creations are driven by an innate desire to find the uncomfortable commonalities shared between humans.
Mona's works often depict the disturbing, taboo, and unsavory while simultaneously capturing the alluring aspects of the human experience. According to Mona, there is profound beauty found at the center of the truly grotesque; complex, even divine, pleasure can be derived from honestly observing the contradictions that lie within us.
Mona loves contradictions and has shamelessly embodied the phenomenon throughout her life, working as a consultant and business strategist by day, and a deviant creative by night. She lives a double life characterized by financial modeling, PowerPoint presentations, and market sizing, and, simultaneously coffee-and-psychedelic-rock-fueled painting mania, twilight figure drawing classes, and frequent artistic reconnaissance missions.
Mona's Sources of Inspiration
MUSIC!
Music is my greatest love and my biggest source of inspiration. Many of my original pieces are accompanied by a curated playlist I've created. Click the button below to navigate to my Spotify profile.
INDIVIDUAL ARTWORKS

Le Déjeuner en fourrure
Méret Oppenheim, 1936
I learned about this piece in an art history class in high school. I remember thinking "Wow. I want my art to make people as uncomfortable as this piece makes me."

Mulholland Drive
David Lynch, 2001
David Lynch taught me that things don't have to make sense for them to make sense. If that makes sense.

Geek Love
Katherine Dunn, 1989
I plan to adapt this book to the silver screen one day. Katherine Dunn reminds us that to be strange is to be very beautiful!

Suicide at Dawn
Victor Brauner, 1930
I remember seeing this piece at the Norton Simon Museum as a kid and wanting to rip it off the wall (to destroy it? to take it home? I'm not sure). It's probably my biggest inspiration to date.
